Novel - Goose Creek

I write and publish on Kindle Books. I also enjoy dabbling in amateur photography and post my images for all to use on a public domain site called pixabay.com under the pseudonym 'James DeMers'.

I spent a good portion of my childhood growing up or visiting relatives in and around Loudoun, Clarke, Fauquier, and Frederick Counties, Virgina. One of my books 'Goose Creek' is a coming-of-age suspense set on an equestrian estate in Loudoun County near the fictional town of Chinsburg (based on Middleburg with a tad of artistic license).

Everything he was to become happened near a small creek in rural Virginia…

When two teenage boys first meet their worlds are falling apart. Dare, a farrier’s son is struggling to survive bullying in school and abuse at home. James's wealthy father lies dying in the big house leaving him an orphan in the care of his uber-wealthy grandmother. Together, with a foundling dog, a down-on-her-luck prostitute, and an English butler--a gentleman with surprising talents--the young men traverse the daunting world of teenage boys coming-of-age.

Neither youth is aware their friendship will be the catalyst that dredges up long suppressed secrets. Secrets on such a scale it becomes a deadly game.

  1. As the editor/proofreader for this story, I can tell you that it's a satisfying read. Allen is a good storyteller who makes you care about the characters. I loved the boys' banter, loyalty, and unspoken fondness for each other, and the vivid detail of life among Virginia's rich and famous. Worth your time, definitely!
